Only 13 days until Thanksgiving? What? Savoring the perfectly crisp air and the opportunity to wear my beret that only November brings. Class, if you recall, last week we learned the basics of window drapery. Today we are discussing drapery styles - the way in which the fabric is gathered or pleated at the top. The selection of style is important because it also determines the type, look and function of hardware.
Here are a few of the most common drapery styles:
1. Ripple Fold Drapes: My go-to for their elegant, clean and modern feel, ripple fold drapery features evenly spaced, soft and uniform ripples or waves that slide on track system.
2. Pleated Drapes: Classic drapes with pleats that can be tailored to various styles including tailored pinch pleat, goblet pleat, or inverted pleat. Tailored pleat is my favorite. Most use standard rod hardware.
3. Grommet Drapes: These drapes have metal eyelets or grommets along the top, creating a contemporary and streamlined look. They use standard rod hardware.
4. Rod Pocket Drapes: These drapes feature a casing at the top that allows a curtain rod to be threaded through, providing a traditional and gathered appearance. They use standard rod hardware.
5. Cubicle Drapes: These drapes have fabric loops or tabs sewn along the top and used more often in commercial spaces as they offer a casual and relaxed look. They are hung on a track system for easy opening and closing.

Since time is passing at a remarkable (honestly alarming??) rate, welcome, we are amidst the beginnings of the holiday season. I live in a small apartment, so I like my decorations to work hard for me - less is more.

1. Live Wreath - call me old fashioned but there is nothing more festive than a live wreath on a door. I’m sure my 7th floor neighbors agree with me! lol
2. Frasier Fir Candle - this scent transports me to the excitement and joy of 90s Christmases. My go-to because its green glass and shape feels elevated.
3. Handcrafted Holiday Snow Globe - what is it about a snow globe? I LOVE a snow globe. The people LOVE a snow globe.
4. Hand Carved Wooden Trees - create a chic little forest on your coffee table or mantel. I’m tempted to throw these guys into the mix.
5. Hand Embroidered Cocktail Napkins / Coasters - the dainty little wreaths on this set! Subtly sophisticated and perfect for spilling martinis on.
6. Cheeky, Sparkly Ornaments - let your personality shine on those branches! The tree is a reflection of the self!
